Life Transition Coaching
Designed for individuals facing important personal decisions and life changes. Kara Panebianco is an ICF Certified Life Coach based in Annapolis, MD. Sessions are held over Zoom, wherever you are.
Some transitions you choose. Others choose you. A divorce or relationship change. The last kid leaving for college and a house that is suddenly quiet. Retirement arriving sooner or later than you planned. A move to a new city, a return to school, the decision to finally start the business, or the slow realization that the balance between work and the rest of your life has tipped too far.
What these have in common is that the old map stops working. The roles you knew yourself by are changing, and the next chapter has not been written yet. Life transition coaching is a structured space to write it on purpose instead of by default.
This is the Next Chapter work described on the Services page. Together we clarify what matters most to you right now, not ten years ago. We identify the obstacles and the limiting beliefs that keep you circling the same decision. We explore your options without judgment, build confidence in your ability to choose, and turn the choice into a realistic action plan. Then I help you stay accountable to it.
The tools are simple and practical: a values and priorities assessment, a decision-making framework you can reuse long after we finish, and a personalized action plan. The point is not for me to tell you what to do. It is to help you discover what is right for you and move forward with clarity and confidence.
Therapy focuses on healing the past. Coaching focuses on building the future. In coaching we set goals, take action, and stay accountable, while still honoring where you have been. If what you need is therapy, I will tell you that honestly and help you find it. Many people find the two work well together. If the transition has left you doubting yourself, this piece on quieting imposter syndrome and this one on setting boundaries without the guilt give a feel for how I approach the mindset side.
Life changes rarely stay in one lane. An empty nest often reopens the question of what you want from work. A relocation means a job search. Retirement planning turns into a conversation about purpose and what a second act could look like. Because I am both an IAP Certified Career Coach and an ICF Certified Life Coach, we can work the career side and the life side in the same engagement instead of splitting you between two people. See career coaching for how that side works.

It is coaching for the seasons when life shifts under you: divorce or a relationship change, an empty nest, retirement, relocation, returning to school, starting a business, or a career pause. We clarify what matters most, identify the obstacles and limiting beliefs in the way, and build a realistic plan you can act on.
You deserve confidence. You deserve clarity. You deserve someone who believes in you — you don't have to do this alone anymore.
